OOC INFO; NAME:Kat AGE: 25 CONTACT: CHARACTERS IN GAME: akira & magilou IC INFO; CHARACTER NAME: Yamato Hotsuin CANON & HISTORY: Devil Survivor 2 & here AGE: 17 CANON POINT: tri-arc; after defeating miyako PERSONALITY: As Chief of the Hotsuin clan and leader of the secret government organization JP’s, Yamato is no stranger to responsibility and high-stress decision-making. Even in the face of danger, Yamato’s outward expression remains calm and he evaluates every given situation for every possible solution. The latter is not truly developed until after meeting the protagonist and learning that the world is not black and white and that a person can not simply be judged on how valuable they are to society. A person is worth more than their components, he comes to learn, and a better world is not one based solely on “value.” He is a fearless leader and many admire him and fear him at the same time. On the surface, Yamato is perceived a cold and tactful leader. He runs his organization based on merits; those that are the most useful and dependable are given the most power and authority. It is difficult for Yamato to see beyond this value-system, given his upbringing. From a young age, he was groomed to be the next leader of his clan. With that came great responsibility and his parnets never taught him the simpler things in life like empathy and compassion. Although Yamato is by no means apathetic, he struggles with understanding the motivations and feelings of others. Yamato does not always know how to react in an emotional situation – unlike the battlefield where you can analyze it and come up with a brilliant strategy. Yamato is a bit stinted in the emotional intelligence department, which accounts for his harsh views on the world and his distaste for civilians. If a person is not useful, they are trash and not worthy of his time. Before the start of the game, Yamato is unyielding in his views and he speaks stoically and sharp. He is an efficient man through and through that seems to possess an icy heart for a mere seventeen years of age. Yamato will call things as they are - idiots who are idiots, flaws that are flaws - and doesn't really care about the social stigma of those awkward observations. It's the truth, after all. …Or so he thinks. Yamato’s cold regimented ways begin to soften after he meets the protagonist. Yamato begins to open up his world and learn that there are other ways to approach situations rather than by the numbers. Although Yamato does not completely change his outlook on life, he does begin to understand that there is more to it than value. A person should not be judged solely on their power or wealth. Some people have strong souls – strong convictions and determination – that are just as admirable. As the tri-arc progresses, Yamato begins to trust in his comrades and value their opinions. But above all else, he believes fully in the protagonist and the protagonist’s ability to change the world and make it a better place. Yamato even writes himself out of history so as to save the protagonist from the same cruel fate. Although he is doing this to save the world, it is evidence that he’s grown to care about his comrades, especially the protagonist who is views as his equal and trusts wholeheartedly. While this is not a complete deviation from his meritocracy, it is a leap. Yamato is beginning to develop empathy. Still, he is a bit clueless in most emotional situations and would rather speak plainly than hint or suggest anything. He is straight to the point, as shown when Daichi begins hinting at a present and tries to poke at Yamato for hints as to what he likes. Yamato still is fascinated by simple things like street food and has a slight siblings rivalry with Miyako. Underneath that brusque exterior is a teenager that really never had the chance to have a childhood. But now, he is a man on a mission and even has grown as much to consider the protagonist his "sworn friend" who he has a vested interest in remaining close to in the future. POWERS: Dragon Stream: I can’t begin to properly explain what the Dragon Stream is. The Dragon Stream, at its foundation, is a power entrusted to the head of the Hotsuin clan. It stems from Mt. Fuji and is a supernatural power that goes beyond the powers found in the demon summoning app. The Dragon Stream is a mystical power that seems to be in touch with mythology and can strengthen barriers and put temporary restraints on demons. It seems to be highly effective against enemies and can only (usually) be possessed by one person at a time. Like anything else, it has its limits and it exhausts the user after using it. OTHER: GAME INFO; MAGIC ABILITY: Ice Creation. Yamato can create ice (shards, sheets and icicles) upon command. PRICE: The contents of his cellphone. I think it’s best for him to keep the phone since that’s how he uses his power in a High-Frequency world, but the contents (besides the demons) should be wiped. Goodbye notes, contacts, and other useful information that he relies upon! You are no more. ACCLIMATION: 6. Yamato is used to thinking in stressful situations, but by no means is he flexible. He does not particularly enjoy change and will be greatly perturbed by the fact that he is here suddenly and not trying to save his world back home. He is stubborn and it will be difficult for him to acclimate in this world where he is not in charge and is, all things considered, “just a civilian.” SAMPLE; LINKED SAMPLE: TDM sample! |
